Believe it or not but I have never been asked what my favourite video game is, I’m as shocked as you because I really don’t have a all time favourite game but if I had to choose then it would be Super Mario World on the SNES by Nintendo. I was asked this question by R-cade in Glasgow, a very cool gaming place in the city centre.
Why this?
So why Super Mario World & not some of the other titles released on the Super Nintendo? How can I put this? It was the first video game I had when I bought my SNES in my local Argos store in East Kilbride and I rushed home to play it, got it all set up & started playing. Before I knew it 3 hours had passed and i had only begun to find out what was beneath the surface as Super Mario Bros 3 was a game of many levels in itself & so was this.
Hidden Depth
Mario games have always had hidden levels but this took it to levels I had never seen before; i was finding keys then trying to find locks on the level which is still exciting for new players. I found this image on thekingofcraps.com and have borrowed it to show a point. Super Mario World even added a new buddy called Yoshi who was a dinosaur who hatches from an egg!! I don’t know about you but finding something to ride on was surprising.
In conclusion
This is a great game for some many reasons, you have a lot to discover inside it! There’s so many levels to find, some many secrets to find & stuff to unlock and that makes Super Mario world on of my all time favourite games.
